Merva

Merva Afshar is an Istanbul born jewelry designer currently residing in Brooklyn, NY. Gold is a metal she recalls from her childhood as it's the gift one exchanges for weddings and births in her home city. She's charmed to know that the metal upon which she imposes her creativity and through which she manifests her art is the same one that her family received in coin form upon the arrival of their baby girl. Gold didn't always inspire Merva but it was where her journey of self discovery and artistic exploration led. Today Merva prefers working with high karat gold and is regularly amazed at how gold shapes as clay. From the model making to the casting Merva is the sole creative hand in Merva Afshar Jewelry and consequently her pieces share a consistency and signature style that isn't jeopardized by larger scale production.
